View Full Version : Whatever Happened To Greg?

There were numerous mentions of Greg from the BNBB in this new political forum. I was just wondering whatever happened to Greg? I have never seen him on this AAJ Board. I do not read any other jazz Boards. Is he on one of those? I never engaged him politically, but on the issue of SACD he was wholly obsessed. I now envision him wandering about San Francisco wearing a sandwich board inscribed 'SACD LIVES'.

Who cares?
His insults and arrogance contributed greatly to the demise of that other board.

That guy was poison! He almost singlehandley ruined the politics thread on the BNBB... AND the SACD posts.
Whereever he is, let him stay there.

Careful Jazzdude, you are only 300 miles away from him!

You know, Chris; that bizarre quoting style of his where he would break up your post into individual sentences and use the arrows (< and >) to make it look like a forwarded email or something, taking great care to use every sentence you posted to rebut each individually. (Of course, if he couldn't think of anything, he'd just throw a "fuck you" in for good measure...)

So what is the over/under on how long it takes before Greg makes his way here now that Politics are allowed on the board? ;)

If he'd wanted to 'dance' with Johnny E. Che he would have already been all over Organissimo.

When the Blue Note BBS was dying and all of you where leaving I recall reading on this site or Organissimo that he promised that he would not go to the Organissimo site. That is if whomever posted about this (can't remember whom it was) would not go back to the Blue Note BBS.

Y'all did explain that Johnny E. was part of the package deal of having a political forum, right?

It was I who proposed that arrangement and I intend to live up to it.

Was it both boards or just the Organissmo board? Hopefully he keeps his end of the bargain. ;)

It was "you stay here (at the rapidly disintegrating BNBB) and I'll stay here" and he said "deal". Considering that the BNBB that is supposed to debut in May will be "new" I believe that I would not violate the terms by checking it out, if and when it comes back ;)

If we were correct about the reasons for te BNBB sinking, then I doubt that it's new format will be a satisfactory stompin ground for Greg... I thought GregK was our Greg for awhile...tamed down a bit.
Speaking of what happened to..... where did Marvin go?

Wasn't Marvin the one who (incorrectly) chastized Kevin Bresnahan who had pointed out the folly of offering and looking for CDRs of in-print BN titles on the BNBB? The issue of CDRs is what ultimately brought the BNBB down. I guess Kevin was right and Marvin was clearly wrong.

Greg, come and join us at AAJ........................
We will now have a great moderator. If you come to AAJ, I know you will be protected by him from the uncalled for and unruly nasty jive that may be thrown at you.
You are unique and you are truly your own man. You dig the beautiful sounds of Jazz and you have a great sense of humor.

Whoa, what's that mean? He berated me once for being ignorant about SACD so I think you're a little off base here

Anyone who says Greg (Greg the Terrible) has a sense of humor has, himself, an odd one.

the man DOES know about sacd, but the way he shoves it down your throat isn't right. it seemed like he had a financial investment in the sacd technology.
i probably wouldn't have bought a sacd player and 1 disc, if not for the sacd jedi master.

I didn't start this thread, nor is it my fault that Greg time and again made a complete ass of himself--ya reaps what ya sows!

Chris, while Greg was mostly a very serious cat, he had said some very funny things on the lame blue note message board.
If you can check out his posts somehow you will get hip to what I'm talking about.

I was there often and never once read anything even slightly suggesting a sense of humor.
Personally I hope I never have the misfortune of correspondence with him again. He is a very bitter and hardheaded man. At least I can have a conversation with the conservatives. But him?
Now let's stop talking about him before he shows up. You know how that crazy stuff tends to happen.

I remember Greg coming up with some real side-splitters. Of course, I don't think they were intentional...

Greg join us here at AAJ. Even though you have been a scapegoat and have always been bullied, which is still going on, I'm sure you understand that there is a need for this. It helps the posters "get off." It is called 'group-fucking with someone', sometimes called 'gfws.'
These are the cats who tear people apart, like Bradford, Wynton, Stanley Crouch, John Hammond and their fellow posters, on the message boards.
But let me tell you this, Greg, as Dr. Phil has said (a great Monk fan), "They are not bad cats, they just do some bad things."
Remember one thing, they all dig the beautiful sounds of Jazz. Even that slime-ball, Michael Savage, who pays tribute to Cannonball in his best selling book, "The Savage Nation", and who plays 'Bird' on his radio show, is not all bad.
Forgive them and get down with the best Jazz site in the world, here at AAJ.

I was thinking the same thing.
Of course if mentioning the undesireables always meant they would show up, we would have no one to blame but ourselves.

Greg argued with a passion that frequently put him over the top. Who knows, maybe he's currently working as Ariel Sharon's press secretary.

Greg & I had some very "spirited" discussions on the BNBB concerning the situation in the Middle East, but we had some nice exchanges off-board. I haven't contacted him since the board's demise, but anybody who's truly yearning for political repartee with him can probably find him at Audio Asylum, where I believe he posts under the moniker "Jazz Inmate."

I just happened to save one of her BNBB threads. Pretty funny stuff, and fun to reread from time to time. It’s rare that anybody could rival aric for shear entertainment value.

After all the uncalled for bashing Greg has taken on the above posts I'm pretty sure he will not join us here on this wonderful message board.
He would have been a great asset here AAJ with his knowledge, wit and love for the beautiful sounds of Jazz. I have noticed that some of the macho jazz police who have turned on Kenny G are the same jive cats who socked it to Greg.
I'm sure that alot of us refugee's from the bluenote board will miss you. The best of luck to you. Later my man....
