Shoppin' Thaw : Bush Plans Attack on Economy
(2003-04-15) -- With the war in Iraq drawing to a close, U.S. President George Bush turned his attention to the frozen American economy. He characterized his battle plan as "Shoppin' Thaw."

"Americans constitute the finest shopping force the world has ever seen," said Mr. Bush. "We plan to direct our forces to hit the major department stores, malls and downtown retail districts. Our strategy includes a significant cyber-attack as well. We'll go up the Amazon and similar tributaries."

Critics immediately attacked the plan as simplistic, and naive.

"Bush just isn't smart enough to understand the nuances of economics," said an unnamed, unemployed economist. "To say that buying stuff will fix the economy, is like suggesting that Iraqi people would welcome the overthrow of their beloved leader, Saddam Hussein...okay, well that's not the best analogy. I've been using that for a year or so, and haven't had time to make up a new one."

The major news networks have hired retired government economists to comment on the President's plan, and predict what he would do next.

Comedy is not a Republican forte. You conservatives should stick to what you do best - war wagin', deficit spendin' and bible thumpin'.

Actually I thought it was pretty funny. Seems to be making fun of Bush as well as his critics.

Well, now - isn't this timely... can someone please tell me WTF good sending out checks to the general population is going to do for the economy? Mine will go in the bank, in case this wonderful plan doesn't work.

Yeah, borrow some more money from the Chinese, give it to American consumers, so they can buy more goods made in China. What could go wrong?

Sounds like it's going to be a disaster, but what hasn't during Bush's time in office?

Is Neil Bush still living in China? Still running a business there?

I have to wonder this, did he use Silverado Savings and Loan loot to set himself up, or was it trust fund money?

Just what is Neil into these days? Is it education or toothpaste?

I'm spending my money, putting it in the bank doesn't pay much anyhow.
It is sad that this country has become retail dependent. :gavel:
