Some of you may know Jim Sangrey, a tenor saxophonist with the Texas jazz group Quartet Out. I'll be featuring the group's new CD, LIVE AT THE MEAT HOUSE, on my community radio show this Wednesday night. The program runs from 6-9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time; here are a couple of links:

Great to hear they are getting exposure. Damn fine band and recording.

Too stinkin’ cool, ghost. That should put a hearty smile on Jim’s face. Unfortunately, I’ll be at work when your show airs, but in a gesture of solidarity, I’ll give my copy of Meat House yet another spin when I get home.

Up for broadcast in about an hour and a half. I'll be playing at least four and possibly five sides from the Quartet Out CD.

Listening!
"Kathy has mixed feelings about her visit to Iraq..."
Will turn in later...
Wait... this is good news! I mean the news is all bad, but good coverage. Not bad, not bad at all.

OK, now they have some impressionable teenage girl talking about a diner closure - heartbreaking indeed, but where is OUT?!?!?!

Through a last-minute quirk of fate, I’m home listening to the show. Kinda makes me want to move to Bloomington. Say ghost, you takin’ requests? How’s about “Donkey Dix”?

I'll try to "slip it in"--pardon the pun.;)

Ha! And there it is! Nice job announcing the title without cracking up. You tell me, was Durick’s Bonham-like intro not an aural pun (Jim hasn’t yet commented)? By the way, nice well-rounded show, ghost.

hadi-blues, a guy called me from his cellphone at the end of "Dix" and said, "Tell that Internet listener 'thank you' for requesting that song. I was driving home through Brown County in the fog and it was just the perfect music to be hearing." So I thought I'd pass that along--thanks for the feedback as well.

I had a dream where, after your show, Jim’s multiple email accounts overflowed with orders, Stanley Crouch re-thought his stand on today’s free jazz, Time Magazine hounded Jim for an interview and Publisher’s Clearing House landed on his doorstep. “Roads Diverge” played from Baghdad’s PA system, the Pope was photographed while head-bangin’ to “Oh Boys Try To Get Along” and Sue finally explained what happened to Shafi Hadi after Mingus.
Hey, it could happen.
