This is my first post in this forum, and i hope not the last ;)
I'm a 15 year old boy from Austria (not Australia :D ).
I would like to hear what persons you know in "Latin" Jazz.
The pianist i like most is without any doubt Petrucciani, but I certainly want to know other (perhaps not so famous) pianists with the same style....
note:
jazz rocks!
note2:
As i said I'm Austrich so please excuse my bad english....

Try some Michel Camilo, Pancho Sanchez, TropiJazz Allstars, Dave Valentin, Caribbean Jazz Project, Jimmy Haslip, etc...

Welcome!
I believe that the best Latin jazz for teenagers would be Cal Tjader's work.
You might also consider Stan Getz's bossa nova albums.

the late tito puente or chico o'farrell . chico's son arturo is still doing the band. get some of dizzy gillespies cuban things. mayra valdes and chucho valdes are cuban performers. bobby sanabria also has an excellent group. sanabria does a more diverse program with afro cuban, puerto rican and brazilian mixed with a little bit of bebop. definitely dizzy influenced.

I've always dug Pete Escovedo, he lives not to far from here. His daughter is amazing as well. Jobim and Stan Getz, are oldies but goodies. I have an album with Cal Tjader amd Carmen McRae which is outstanding, maybe try that as well. Good luck and good listening.
