Hi,
The internet has made reaching artists a whole lot easier. Many, such as George Duke, personally write back to emails such as yours. A quick search of the web shows this page as a place you can write Herbie to find the answer to your question:

Hope this helps:)

Soul Bossa Nova is a Quincy Jones tune from an album of the same name, re-issued on Verve records. I didn't think Herbie played on the album, though it doesn't surprise me. Herbie played on everything back in the day. If I was a session producer, I'd want him on my stuff, that's for sure.

I remember seeing Herbie back in the late 50's early 60's. He was just a young kid, about my age at the time, and it was nice to be able to see a few of the younger guys getting a chance to play with the best that were around. I didn't meet very many of the younger players, as they were so busy being into the music of the greats that they were playing with, or traveling with, that they stuck to the business end of the music, very seldom, if ever socializing with the fans.

I rember Herbie as being into every phase of the music, always a note pad in his hands, always writing something down, always sharing his notes with the band members. I always wondered what it was he was doing with that book, what he had written, what he liked and disliked.

I do remember his always having a smile on his face, or his being quick to light up with one. He had a way about him that was commanding, he stood out in a crowded room, even as a teenager, he stood out among the others that had the same charisma, so you knew he was going places.

"Can Herbie Hancoock be called a funk-jazz man? "

Sure, why not? :tanz:
