As a jazz addict and bassist with as much Mingus as Mahavishnu (you know...relatively speaking) and a luthier specializing in electric string instruments, I find it to be a let down that there are so many cats that put down electrics. Especially jazz bassists! I love the tone of an acoustic upright, but that doesn't make an electric upright a "Stick" or "Popsicle" as some cats say. It's strange that such a progressive form of art can have such close-minded double standards. Any thoughts?

ahhhh...sorry bout that. I was responding to an old thread, but it didn't work. Basically I'm looking for reasons why electric instruments aren't more widely used/accepted in the jazz world.

some prefer the tone of acoustic instruments. others are traditionalist snobs.

Not so much people that try them and honestly don't like them...more like those that oppose them without even hearing/approaching them.
I find it to be similar to LincolnCenterSyndrome/Wyntonitis...devout Traditionalism/Purism.
