Played this this afternoon and thought-"man, the insanity is still going on in the world, 30 years after the end of the pointless Vietnam War." We could use some more songs protesting the utter stupidity of violence in the world today. Don't you folks agree? Did you realize that over 50,000 american service people died in Vietnam for nothing? How many so far in Iraq? Bush, Outta that Country!!! Musicians Protest! People Protest! It's time for Humanity to speak up. This isn't about division, it's about Unity. And it's not funny and trite anymore, like it was treated by the masses in the 1960's-It has now become necessary. Wisdom has been trying to get through for a long, long time, and has fallen on deaf ears. Can we now hear The Gong Ringing?

Since bombastic chooses not to receive private e-mails, I'm forced to go public here. In my judgment, bombastic's most recent post chastising gregk was a breach of forum ettiquette, so I deleted it. Let's make an effort to maintain civility, especially in regard to hot potato political threads. I am quite serious about this.

Yes the world is still insane and yes something should be done about it but each generation seems to have it's way of dealing with stuff. But I am saddened that there seem to be no more revolutionaries and if there are they are quashed.

The US has a frightening grip on media control and real freedom of speech and expression seem to be repressed at a frightening level.Speaking out is somehow equal to being anti-American.... sheeeesh! Scary.

Hey, it sounds like music to my ears. I'm with you, Bombastic. Before the decision was made to invade Iraq, we were on the streets. Something was brewing. Now that billions upon billions of our tax dollars are being spent, American soldiers are being killed ever day, and the credibility of the USA in the Arab world is going down the toilet, the American streets are calm and quiet.

What the hell is going on?

Darina, I agree with you 100% about media control in the U.S. The unfortunate reality is that Republican talking points are actually reported as news, particularly by cable tv stations, including CNN. When you criticize the government you are labelled a "traitor", or you're called "French", now an insult in right wing circles. The Bush administration intends to destroy the government's ability to do anything but wage war and put people in jail, including dissenters. Don't believe me? Check out the Heritage Foundation's web site, or anything Grover Norquist writes and says.

Clifton, I am an American living in France so from my point of view this whole anti-French thing takes on such rediculous surealism... I just try to laugh it off and hope it passes quickly. What else can I do? People are so hypnotized that talking to someone about actual hands-on experience of the French or any other point of view will not convince them that what information they're being fed is wrong. It's disturbing.

Thank you Darina and Clifton for bringing up the media and how it is exceedingly biased and controlled by the Republican and conservative wings. The myth of the liberal media is just that! It amazes me how anything liberal, let alone radical is attacked and treated as dangerous and/or naive while the right has carte blanche to say whatever they want with impunity. What could be more dangerous and damaging to the nation than Bush and his cronies sending off our young men and women to die in a war that also is alienating the rest of the world, while at home the economy is falling apart and the rich continue to get richer at the expense of the swelling numbers of have nots, and every sane past notion is under attack, from the right to freedom of expression to protection of endangered species to preserving the faltering environment from further subjugation to human greed. jav
