Firstly, being my first post.. Great Forum!! I wish i had found this sooner.. glad to meet all you crazy jazz cats :)
I was just looking for some help working out the time signatures for the Pat Martino tune ' Starbright ' from the album of that name. Its such a beautiful piece and hope to include it as an intro later this year for an instrumental performance for my course.
I spoke to my guitar tutor about it today and he spent a few minutes listening to it with me. He came to the conclusion that it was partly in 7/4, but this ofcourse doesnt apply to the whole tune. I had more pressing questions and didnt want to waste too much of our time listening to Pat (as fun as it could have been =p ) So we left it at that and moved on..
Any answers, or even tips on picking up these complex time sigs by ear would be appreciated.
