Anyone heard of these programs where you can jam with people over the net using USB cables and headphones ? I'm intrigued.

never heard of it. But it would be amazing, jamm sessions in your living room with someone half way across the world? Sounds way to good to be true

I do that sometimes with solarjazzband with msn messenger, but it isn't always perfectly synchronized

I remember seeing ads in Keyboard magazine. I wish I had remembered the name of the software.

BTW, this could be a real boon for musicians who live in areas where there aren't many other musicians to play with. It could also be a channel to more readily foster cross-cultural musical dialogues. I would love to be able to just "get away" to South Africa or Japan, but that's just not very feasible for me (and not to mention, costly!)

Yeah, we do it often on MSN. It's so great that that's possible with internet. If it's synchrone, you can jam! Who wants to try it?

hmm, that's not a bad idea. Bram, you and I need to try that. Oh by the way, this is AJ or andrew on msn. You know, the sax/guitarist.

I have done 2 things thus far. One is I've played for folks through Yahoo IM Chat Rooms. Two is I've downloaded music minus bass and have added my 2 cents and uploaded it back up but I've not been able to play along with someone at the same time. Not sure if a standard consumer computer could handle all that streaming audio back and forth and in sync!! Not to mention a server dedicated for that purpose! I also think high speed internet would have to get a lot faster and crash proof to handle it. You'd probably have to upgrade your computer with high end sound cards! This is just my opinion!
