Rank your preferences for where you would most like to spend time interacting with musicians and studying your craft. Please tell us your reasoning as well...

In the future, I would like to stay one year in New York. Also some time in Paris. Paris is just so great... I can't wait 'till it's time for me to go to all those places.

Well, I'm still kicking myself in the @$$ for not moving to England and absorbing the London Acid Jazz/Funk movement! [I.E. Brand New Heavies, Incognito, etc...] I was very distracted in my youth!

I'd really like to study in the Netherlands because there have been some fantastic artists to have come out of that country, and I'd love to play in Paris.

Cuba/Brasil/North India--- I have a fixation on the rhythms of these countries.

That sounds strange to me: you live in Boston, with the most famous music school of the world for popular music, and not so far from New York, but you're coming to Amsterdam!?
I'm very interested in what your reasons are for doing that... :)

Hey Solar,

I mentioned Amsterdam for no other reason than I spent some time there a few years ago and fell in love with the place...and not just for the more notorious aspects either, it just seems like a great city to live in if you're an artist.

btw: I'm perfectly happy with my location in the states as well (and plan on taking full advantage of it once I get my chops up to speed on the trumpet), I was just going along with the guidelines of the thread. :D

New Orleans, the Home of Jazz, I think you could learn and improve so much more if you went with your Instrument to new Orleans for 1 Year.

I'm moving to England this summer.... manchester specifically, to live/work/study....I'm planning on studying privately with Julian Arguelles...

Personally, I find the musical climate in Europe to be way more inviting than that of the US or Canada......the music coming from Europe is far more creative and interesting (to me)......

it just seems to be a more stimulating environment....

One of the reasons why i plan on going to Loyola and studying jazz there. Not to mention it's close to home, where i already have a few connections.
