Hello there,

I live in London - but I'm looking to go to the States for a 2-4 weeks to learn some jazz. I play a lot but I've never had a lesson. I thought it was time.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Tim

Hmmm 2 or 4 weeks. Where are you going in the US? That will have a big impact. I would suggest that you pick a city ie Boston or New York that have large school programs where there will be a lot of people playing and available to take your money for lessons. NYC being most people's first choice.

I would also research your favorite living players via their website and contact them about scheduling a series of lessons

Thanks for the advice: are there any courses you know of that last 2 weeks in New York or Boston? I kinda like the idea of learning with loads of other people...

well not that I know of, but there are a lot of jazz camps that take place over the summer. Unfortunately they are all over now, at least the more popular ones until next summer
