Hi.

Well GW finally came to the UK to show us how much he appreciated what 'our boys' had done for the war and to attempt to discuss some of the 'real' issues between the US and the UK.

In the end the events in Turkey and attempts to show each of the respective countries, that all was well with at least a small part of the world took over, and we got the pictures of GW and Tony having a 'pint' together ;)

At least I can sleep better my bed :D

Ive little time for Dubya and his rapmaging right wing policies, but it was a little harsh to feed him warm beer and mushy peas.

I'm still confused how Bush and Blair can be such close friends. No matter what Bush suggests,Blair is always on his side.

Maybe Bush has promised Blair a nice job in the USA when Blair's active career is over...maybe taking care of his ranch in Texas: milking cows, plowing fields ;)

Well, I on the other hand, am allergic to peas (and all legumes, for that matter), so they would do me a great deal of harm... :D

Why are they friends ? good question.

They both share a kind of Western-Christian view on things, which leads to a strong sense of what is right and wrong. They both genually feel that their respective countries are under threat, and that something needs to be done about it.

They seem to like each other, as Reagan and Thatcher did in the 80's. and I guess many other reasons. Blair seems to want to have his place in history, not jusy here in the UK, but on a World stage, perhaps seeing this, ironically like Thatcher did, as a definingt moment in his career.

I was on my bike that Friday morning when Bush's 'plane went overhead. I mangaged to raise a ring finger skywards.
Quite low in fact, he must have been surveying his new playground on the North York Moors (Fylingdales -- home of his enviseged Star Wars thang)
He came in from that direction anyway.

BTW I hope they've sorted out the lav' in that boozer. It was horrendous. Maybe he took his own seat.

They do serve nice beer though and it's good business for them.

Interesting how Tone didn't show him around the more erm... economically challenged parts of his constituency...

Oh well.

Well beer and pubs seem to go down well in some parts of the states, I was recently in the US and that is what some think England is about. It is also good for GW re-election campaign, GW with his biggest mate and some ordinary people.

Great stuff:D
