It was broadcast in two parts Nov. 2002 and Jan. 2003 (with some overlaps).

I wonder whether this will bring any new segments from this session, whether it will the same broadcast again or an altogether different date.

Solid Gold Cadillac - to give it's full title - was Westbrook's jazz-rock group which lasted for two albums and both a re-issued on the BGO label as a two for one. The line-up included amongst others Westbrook on el. piano, Gary Boyle on guitar (earlier recording had Chris Spedding), Butch Potter on bass, Alan Jackson on drums, Phil Minton on vocals and trumpet and George Khan on tenor sax. The sound is sort of Miles circa Jack Johnson meets Zappa circa We're only in it for the Money (sort of). I thought they were excellent.

The broadcast was indeed from the same material aired in the previous shows.

"Solid Gold Cadillac" as a band gave its name to 3 albums:
"LIVE" , "Solid Gold Cadillac" and "Brain Damage", the first being my favourite of that period, the latter two were later relaesed as a BGO double-CD.

Butch Potter has recently died, aged 60. See as Mike Westbrook looks backhere (http://www.westbrookjazz.co.uk/smith's_informer.shtml) as Mike Westbrook looks back on Butch's live and work.

I didn't know that Butch Potter had died. By the way the first album 'Live' is actually attributed to Mike Westbrook [band]. Don't think Phil Minton was playing on that record (which I bought on vinyl secondhand a few years back). It was released on the Cadillac label though! Good album - it should be re-issued.
