There is currently a stack of the books in hardcover (Jazz: A History of America's Music) that accompanied the PBS series at the Borders around here for $10.

I know how the majority of you guys feel about Burns, but is it even worth that price to add it to the collection? Do any of you have it?

I picked up a couple of copies the other night - one for me and an X-mas gift for my father-in-law. For ten bucks it's a steal, even if you don't agree with everything in it. But I do think it has a lot of merit and, glancing through it, offers a somewhat broader picture than the TV series.

Think I'll pick it up. Thank you all.

Damn! I picked it up at 10% off when I was in New York a couple of years ago. (January Sales) That was still a lot cheaper than the UK price. It is worth the full price and at $10 it is a steal

Ha, they were trying to flog the Japanese version (with DVD) for over $100 :embarass: in Tower Shibuya last night.
Didn't look to be too many takers.
Brings to mind that Steppenwolf song: "Born to be re--may-ayaynder-er-ed"

It'd probably make a pretty good coffee table book (not that I've actually tried). Then the text would be kind of irrevelant. Like Chris says loads of nice pictures...

And well produced...

that book is huge. if you put legs on it, it'd make a decnt coffee table. :) i flipped through that book in the library back when it was new. i'd say it's easily worth $10, regardless of how you feel about the film.
