Who's the hottest saxophonist right now in the jazz scene according to you?
(these are all opinions so be respectful of what others think)

I'd have to go with Seamus Blake. Everyone I know in NY tells me that he totally blows everyone away every time he's playing with somebody, and the one time I caught him I was quite impressed myself. He won the Monk competition for saxophone last year, although that's not necessarily THA truth.

Von Freeman, if I have to pick just one. Among younger players, James Carter and Chris Potter. And for pure, fire-breathing intensity, David S. Ware.

Pharao,
I dig the hell outta Blake, too. Even though I only have a coupla albums. I need to get more. He's really got a great sound.
My fave: Evan Parker. No question about it. I know he doesn't always play Jazz, but when he does (with the trio of Lytton and Guy, for example), man, he's a force of nature.
Lately, I've been diggin' the hell outta Jemeel Moondoc's recent albums.
And the other stalwarts: Steve Lacy (soprano), Braxton (everything), Fred (tenor), and on and on and on.
And, of course, Papa Joe Maneri
Outside of Jazz: John Butcher, Bhob Rainey, Michel Doneda (who sometimes plays Jazz).
