i just got hip to Madlib on a plane ride this week and picked up "SHades of Blue" today. I love the mix of hip-hop and jazz on the album. I don't listen to much jazz... anyone got any reccomendations on good Madlib or other artists?

Lucky enough for you tyone, I know a little about this sort of stuff. Not many around here care for it...

Madlib also produced Loot Pack, Quasimodo, and Jaylib.

You might dig Medeski, Martin, & Wood, Cinematic Orchestra, Saint Germain, DJ Krush, Desmond Williams, or King Kooba. If you are at all interested in funky instrumental music, check out Herbie Hancock HEAD HUNTERS.

Madlib does splits production with MF Doom on the Madvillain CD that's due out early 2004. A little hunting around the file sharing sites, though, and you can find the demos now. I think they're better than Jaylib even though neither are too jazzy.
