reading a chart to day in hs jazz band......solo appeared...chord changes only...ahhhh!

I know my scales and chords my problem is this:

If the tune is in Concert Eb and I as a trumpet am in F what do I do when I see E7? Do I play based around the E7 I know as E G# B D or do I play based around E G Bb D, which is based in the key that the tune is in?

help me please.....I was afraid to ask my band director.....he is just a stand in for the real guy and doesn't know much about jazz.

thanks for any help you can give!

You might want to try the musicians' forum here. Your question is more likely to get a response there. Sorry I can't help personally.

Yeah I'd go post this over in the mUsician's forum where you would get a lot of help.

But I would say that you're asking a real loaded question. There are to many options for you to do but you will certainly get good help there. There's a lot to consider.

what other chords are there? what's the feel of the tune? how fast is it? The musician's forum will give you some help so just head on over savvy

If the chord is E7 (E G# B D), then you will play F# chord (F# A# C# E), you will always be a wholetone higher than the concert score.
