I doubt you've even heard it. You probably just assume you'd like it based on the title.

I would vote for "Demon's Dance".
Don't let the cheezy cover art fool you, this is classic Jackie. My favorite McLean sessions are those in which he combined the structure of his conventional hard bop outings with some more adventurous leanings, kind of straddling the "inside" and "outside" playing, both of which he did very well.
I am currently ISO a title called "It's Time" which I think is similar in style.

Where to start???
The new Grachan Moncur Mosaic Select is actually a good place to start. It contains Jackie's albums DESTINATION OUT, ONE STEP BEYOND, HIPNOSIS, and some of 'BOUT SOUL; he's also on the Moncur EVOLUTION album that's included as well.
Also LET FREEDOM RING, JACKIE'S BAG, and just about any of the albums from the now OOP Mosaic McLean.

Let Freedom Ring
Hipnosis
Mosaic Set (I guess it's not fair to list that one - but oh well!)
Demon's Dance
Jackie's Bag
Capuchin Swing
All of the BNs are really good, but in case of fire the above are the one's I'm grabbing before running out the door! I'm going to get around to exploring his Prestige dates a bit more sometime soon.

Great stuff. I think the material with Tony Williams is best, but it is all good. And at 75 minutes this disc offers basically 2 sessions worth of material; good value.
As a BN Connoisseur it will probably go OOP at some point so I would say grab it while you can.

This one doesn't get mentioned often since it's from his pre-BN days from Presrige, but how about A Long Tall Drink of the Blues?
There's a great opening sequence where the musicians argue. Great cd in my opinion.

I really like Let Freedom Ring . However, and I'm sure a lot of you will think I'm nuts, but the one I seem to reach for the most is Nature Boy . I just can't seem to get enough of that disc!

My favorite Jackie Mac is on Freddie Redd's "The Music from The Connection." The phrase "tour de force" is there to describe what he does on this record.

I never get tired of Let Freedom Ring. I don’t think it’s quit like anything else in McLean’s discography. Besides, it was my first Mclean, so there’s an element of sentimental attachment. Having said that, I’m not yet sure I’ll pick up the RVG version when it’s released. Now, were it to be released on SACD…

A quick check of the Blue Note website shows New and Old Gospel to be out of print here in the United States.

I'm surprised that Bluesnik didn't make more lists. I really like this recording, considering it's only got one song... Okay, I'm overstating things, but it is a wonderful reminder of how much vitality remains in the age-old musical form known as The Blues.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with Jackie Mac, but the album that got me was Destination Out. I just wish I would have bought the Mosaic set when it was out.

Destination Out really is the one that made me a big fan of Jackie McLean. Almost a perfect album. Swing, Swang, Swinin' is one that I really like as well that doesn't get the praise that it probably deserves. It's a really good set of standards plus a blues at the end. Jacknife, Capuchin Swing and Let Freedom Ring are also really solid McLean Blue Note albums. Those five, you can't go wrong with.

"Destination Out" is really what got me into Jackie as well. I actually bought it because I buy just about everything that has Bobby Hutcherson's name on it. From there, I went next to "One Step Beyond" and "Old and New Gospel." My favorites today are probably:
"Destination Out"
"One Step Beyond"
"Action"
"Right Now"
