Someone over on another board recently turned me on to some Toshiko Akiyoshi recordings, most of which I've found to be quite enjoyable. In any event, I just received a copy of "The Toshiko Trio" (Storyville) disc and was wondering about this liner note blurb regarding the track 'Manhattan Address' :

"The last-named was inspired by her meeting with an American classical musician, who lived on W. 52nd Street in New York City, then the center of the Jazz World, but who remained curiously oblivious of the strange new and intriguing sounds which, by night, came through his window"

Any idea who the classical musician might have been? Sounds high profile. Just curious.
