Hello

I recently discovered this wonderfull jazz recording being Art Blakey's "Whisper Not".

Having downloaded more of his songs it seems to me like this style of jazz is not the regular style of Blakey.

My question would be if someone here could tell me some other artists that focus on the same style as this song.

Many thanks in advance

That's a cool song. It was written by tenor saxophonist Benny Golson, who was with Blakey's Jazz Messengers around '58, appearing on the classic Blue Note album Moanin' and various live discs. For more material by Golson or in a similar vein, you may want to look for discs by the Art Farmer-Benny Golson Jazztet (together from '59-'62). Btw, there's also a cool cover of the tune on the the album Whisper Not by the Keith Jarrett standards trio.

I love that song. Benny Golson was a great composer, he wrote "I Remember Clifford", which is one of my favorite tunes. I don't know of the Art Blakey version you are talking about, but another awesome version of that song is the one sung by Ella Fitzgerald. It's sweet.
I just downloaded Yesterdays played by Tal Farlow, it's really awesome. Very up beat, a cool vamp too. I wish I knew of the Art Blakey tune your talking about, I'll look for it.

You can find the Messengers with Golson playing "Whisper Not" on at least these albums:
