Guys and gals, this to me is a form of compensation for the otherwise very-flawed documentary that was Ken Burns' Jazz. It's a database on the PBS site of all the interviews, or at least the more substantial ones which were done for the series....(note this is not merely what ended up on the documentary itself, but the interviews in their entirety, so I am sure there is plenty of unseen/unheard material there.)

Here's a link to Gary Giddens' insightful interview:

FYI, folks who dig interviews should also check out AAJ contributor Fred Jung's JazzWeekly.com site. Warning: it's got superannoying popups but the interviews are more interesting and provocative than most jazz interviews you will read.......mostly forward-thinking musicians as well.

It's a great resource. I printed all the interviews and saved them in a binder. There's a great interview with Jackie Mac in it.
