Lots of them out there. Can anyone suggest a good one so I only buy one.

Chords are chords, regardless of the instrument ..
Best book out ( for all players ) IMO:
Jazz Theory : Mark Levine ..
the examples are easy enough for anyone to play
besides ..it wouldn't hurt you to play a bit of piano :D

I'll second Phil's recommendation. Levine gives you practical examples of chord substitutions applied to familiar tunes that you can use immediately in your playing.
'Chord Chemistry' by Ted Greene is well regarded and guitar-based, as is the old Mickey Baker 'Jazz Guitar' text, but they provide pages and pages of virtually impossible finger-busters that are more likely to discourage beginners. Still, you may want to check them out at some point.
"Chords and Progressions for Jazz and Popular Guitar"
by Arnie Berle is your best bet to start with, if you really want a guitar-based book.
