I remembered that when this CD came out last fall a few folks were discussing it on the BNBB. But, of course, we all know what happened to that, so I can't search for that thread now. I was wondering what people think of this record. I just bought it today and I have found myself listening to the first track repeatedly. Excellent record

I really like this recording. I have a couple of his earlier ECMs and they never really made a great impression. But on hearing 'Lift Every Voice' I was enthralled and found the earlier CDs unlocked for me.

Some people were unimpressed by it but I think its gorgeous.

I too enjoy this album. My only prior experience with Lloyd had been his two prior ECMs, "Hyperion for Higgins" and "The Water Is Wide." Of these three, Water is my current favorite.

I loved this CD, though I played the first disc a heckuva lot more than the second.

I really enjoy this album, although the first track doesn't do too much for me. There's a part of me, in fact, that thinks that a little judicious editing might have made for a stronger album. A friend of mine at work made a single disc version of "Lift Every Voice", and I almost like his version better.

Ah, but if they'd have cut it down to a single disc in ten years time we'd all have been clamouring for a deluxe reissue with the out-takes! Maybe even a Mosaic box!

Lift Every Voice - a marvellous CD. I have to admit I enjoy Lloyd's mature ECM work over his Atlantic era.

I saw Lloyd in concert last summer (he and John Abercrombie were the support act for McCoy Tyner and Bobby Hutcherson) it was a terrific evening.

btw - I notice BGO have reissued (or are reissuing) Moonman. I've never heard of this Lloyd, can anyone fill me in on this one?

I think I will next check out the Water is Wide. It's in BMG
