Well... it was like that... i was sitting in a jazz club near my college as i was bored listening to physics and mathematics so i went for a cup of coffee and heard that beautiful song...

A women was singing something like:

"still so close you're so far apart"

or something similiar... It doesn't matter, i have to get this song cause i haven't heard a song that i would pay my attention in a moment for ages... But i did to this one!

So if anyone knows it be so kind and tell me who it is please! :)

And oh yeah, i'm new here so... hello everybody ;) And sorry for my english, i know it's not perfect as i'm from Slovenia... You probably don't even know where that is right? ;)

Wasn't there a big band song, "Long Ago & Far Away?" Not what you're looking for I'm sure, but there are more than one song with similar lyrics, just can't dredge them up as to who, what, and when.

Surely someoine will come up with similar lyrics and another song for you.

Keep looking and listening, or try to get in touch with the business that provides the juke boxes, or the music for them, maybe they have a list.

Good luck.

Long Ago & Far Away

It's by Jerome Kern and Ira Gershwin; written for some Broadway show (or movie). (Info. courtesy of ASCAP's ACE search engine (http://www.ascap.com/ace/search.cfm?mode=search).)

That means it was written after George G. died, also that I have the lyrics near at hand, sitting in some box or other (I'm about to move) and have no way of checking on them -- argh!! :)

Lyrics

I kinda doubt this is what you're looking for, but here they are:

Long Ago and Far Away

Dreary days are over.
Life's a four leaf clover.
Sessions of depressions are through.
Every hope I longed for long ago, comes true.

[Refrain]

Long ago and far away
I dreamed a dream one day
And now that dream is here beside me
Long the skies were overcast
But now the clouds have passed
You're here at last!

Chills run up and down my spine
Aladdin's Lamp is mine
The dream I dreamed was not denied me
Just one look and then I knew
That all I longed for
Long ago was you.

(from Till the Clouds Roll By, a 1946 movie loosely based on Jerome Kern's life and career. It has tons of Kern's hits, including many jazz standards. Thank goodness for IMDB.com!)
