I am still looking for creative electronic flavoured jazz (still inspired by the Electronic Jazz discussion we had some weeks ago). I just found out that uri caine did something drum'n bass like, called "Bedrock". (I am really impressed by his Rhodes playing on Dave Douglase Infinite. That' s another reason why I am interested in Bedrock).

Can anyone comment on this CD?

Very interesting stuff. It really ranges from hard funky to spacy out, the latter of which I would also describe, to use a whack simile, as live Herbie Hancock from the current and just-post HH era (think Flood) crossed with a nice live drumz from any GD recording you choose. I wasn't sure whether I liked it at first (I've just recently gotten into Uri Caine, although I liked his work on the Philadelphia Experiment record he does with ?uestlove and Christian McBride), particularly since I was expecting a completely different vibe because a friend who was with me when I purchased the remastered Thrust told me "You've GOT to get Bedrock, you'll love it"; I think it may be something of an acquired taste, but I'm very into it now.

Another good comparison would be Erik Truffaz' recent Mantis recording.

Hope this helps. I'd love to hear what people think of this as well.

How did the picture get into my posting? Can't remember putting it there. I am confused...
