does anyone know of a website or something that lists discographies of out of print Mosaic sets?

Actually, the Mosaic website does. It's just that the discographies are "hidden" for OOP sets. Ie the old URLs still work, the links have just been deactivated. Someone once posted a list of the old URLs over at BNBB. I'll see if I can dig up the post.

thanks! do you know if they list discographies of their earliest sets, like the mulligan/baker set, for example?

I can't promise that they do. My impression was that all of the discographies are still up, though.

Edited to add: I was just poking around at Mosaic, and it appears that they may have finally taken down the discographical info for OOP sets. I have a few that I saved to PDF. Any in particular you're looking for?

Unfortunately the Mosaic website only has links to the discographies of the box sets that are in print:

http://www.mosaicrecords.com/catalog.asp

However, the discographies of some OOP sets are still hosted on their website, though not linked anymore because the boxes have been removed from the catalog page. Here are the direct links:

The Complete Roulette Live Recordings of Count Basie and his Orchestra (1959-1962) (#135) (http://www.mosaicrecords.com/Discography.asp?SelectionID=2)

The Complete CBS Studio Recordings of Woody Shaw (#142) (http://www.mosaicrecords.com/Discography.asp?SelectionID=3)

I also have some of the original pages saved to PDF for even earlier sets if you're interested in any. I got the files from a fellow BNBBer a while back.

I have all the early sets (skipped a few Blues ones), but if you seriously need the info, I can print it out for you.

Does anyone have the one for the Benny Goodman set, The Complete Capitol Small Group Recordings (Mosaic 148)? I think I have most of this material scattered about but would like to know exactly what the set contained.

Thanks in advance.

Up.

Many of the links above are now directed to the photography section of Mosaic's revamped website.

However, you may get the discographies of several OOP sets here (http://web.archive.org/web/20010607061654/www.mosaicrecords.com/catalog.asp), courtesy of a fellow jazzer.

Now that I've gotten permission from Mosaic, I've started working on the following:

http://livingwithmusic.com/mosaic/

"Announcement" here:
http://livingwithmusic.com/2009/05/24/mosaic-discographies/

The whole thing will take a while ... but ... better than nothing, I hope.

I'm also missing quite a few and once I'm done putting the ones up I have, I'll probably drop by here (and elsewhere) for help. :)

Right now I'm putting up (one/two per day) the original Mosaic ones I have, then I will add the "secondary" ones ... and then run screaming for help.

I still have about 80 to go until the screaming starts... be patient. :)

Hope this page can be of service to some of you.
