About a year ago Sony reissued a range of CTI titles from the vaults about a dozen or so titles and a double Best of - The CTI Masters. For me there was some excellent reissues there most notably Joe Farrell's Moon Germs (it would be great to see further Farrell reissues) I was wondering if anyone had heard or read if there was going to be any further reissues from the CTI back catalogue?

Now, I realise in the scheme of things the sales of the CTI reissues will be insignificant for Sony compared to other artists on their roster, but it would be nice to see some more stuff out there. I remember someone posted on the BNBB that there was going to be a Japanese reissue programme of CTI material but howabout reissues out of the US? With the closure of Tower Records UK the opporunity to track down Japanese imports in the UK just got more difficult.

Many thanks in advance.

I've got Skateboard Park on lp but there's lots of Xanadu stuff I'd love to pick up on cd. Can you tell me who is reissuing this material? Thanks in advance.

I'd really like to hear Ron Carter's CTI album ALL BLUES. It's a 1973 quartet date with Joe Henderson, Roland Hanna, and Billy Cobham; as far as I know, it has yet to see the light of day on CD.

Yeah, it's totally strange that this all-star date has not been reissued on CD. Either they are blind, or the tapes are lost. I'm not that much a fan of the CTI sound, but I'd gladly replace my scratchy LP (already a British reissue) with a new SONY CD. Good music, Joe Henderson plays some very mellow sax on this one, and Roland Hanna is great. For me, Carter's best CTI outing.

Mailman: I bought 10 Xanadu cds on ebay from a guy in Houston recently. I have not found any Xanadu cds elsewhere. You can buy Xanadu lps from the owner of Xanadu, Don Schlitten, at 3242 Irwin Avenue, Kingbridge, NY 10463 (718.549.3655). I bought some lps from Don and I was pleased with the deal.

Hello all (my first posting in the new environment!!),

In Japan the King subsidary PJL has begun reissueing CTI LP's on CD in nice mini LP style sleeves. The second batch of 5 is out right now and they will continue as far as I know.

Cheers,

Reinier

PS you can contact mr.Tanno (hiroshi@earlyrecords.com) to order them.

Aren't Xanadu titles available at Emusic.com? I think I saw Farrell's Skateboard Park there.

It came out on CD in Japan (KICJ 8067) back in the 90s.

Grey is spot on (as always)! It was even reissued in Japan in 1998 (KICJ-8263) and maybe available through Mr.Tanno.

Cheers,

20 or so CTI reissues (regular ones, not Japanese) are available from http://www.zweitausendeins.de for EUR 7 each.

Xanadu sides are definitely available on emusic. I can't refer to the particular side mentioned, but there are certainly *some* Xanadus there.

Tower Japan do mail order for gaijin with a thirst for Japanese reissues. I haven't tried it, but then Tower Records Shibuya is half way between where I work and the train station. I have the cc bills to prove it :D
Prices are probably fairly astronomical once you factor in P+P and the duty and various taxes on taxes the West European oligarchy imposes on its blighted serfs.
