This is probably a simple problem. I have been playing my audio cd's for years on my pc's. I recently acquired a gateway system, and now my cd's play, but there is much skipping. I have a dvd drive and a dvd burner drive. It is about the same from both drives. I have tried using different probrams, Nero, MWP,
Real, etc. and it skips like that from all of them. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Do you have a lot going on at the time you are playing your CD? With a new system with sufficient memory and processor speed this shouldn't be a problem, but I know that when I bog my system down with a lot of tasks, I find that (oddly) when I am doing web searches my CDs sometimes skip a bit. Not a lot, but it's annoying. Still, I know what's happening.

I'd look for a common denominator when they skip, if possible. If it's happening all the time, regardless of how little or much you are doing, then I'd talk to Gateway.
