I was hoping to get some feedback on what is considered a good CD recorder. I prefer a stand alone component. I don't want to use a computer burner. I heard about Harmon Kardon (CDR-26, CDR-20, CDR-30) and Denon. Are these good? I want a quality unit, I'm not looking to cut corners. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Greg

If you just want to make copies of cds, I recommend a standalone PC burner by Alera Technologies. These either make burns at 24x or 48x depending on the model (and price) and I have been using a 24x Alera burner for about six months with great joy. You just put in a cd and a cdr, press a button, and you have a copy in four minutes. And you can use PC blanks, which are considerably cheaper.

If you want to burn from analog sources, I would recommend a Harmon Kardon cd recorder as I have heard great things about them from owners. I have a Philips which has given me problems after about two years of use.

Well, the model that I have is no longer available; this one looks to me to be EVEN BETTER.
