Having bought the 60G iPod Photo, (for its capacity more than anything else), and anxiously waiting for it to be delivered, I now need your guidance in listing the very basic and essential accessories for it. I will be using it in my 2hr daily commute to work.

Please also list the brand and possibly add some of your comments on the particular item. (i.e. oPod case, instead of simply stating I need a case)

I have already bought the Griffin iTrip (never mind the reviews on the iTrip thread, the net etc., they are so conflicting that I've decided to check it out myself. Besides there doesn't seem to be any other product that stands above all others in that category)

Next item in my list is a protective case....Any ideas on the make and other absolute essentials??

My experience with the Griffin accessories is that they either work great or not at all...

Seriously, I use the iTrip on a daily basis; finding a clear frequency was a real challenge because I live squarely in between two major radio markets, but once you find one it works pretty well. And I like the way it's designed.

I have yet to find a case I'm happy with. Part of the problem is that Apple keeps making subtle changes to the design of the dang thing, each time making all previous cases obsolete; so be careful that the case you buy actually matches the specific design of your iPod model!

Here is a suggestion if you dont want to buy a lot of accessories. This thing is supposed to be good from what I heard. It is a fm transmitter, power adapter and cradle all in one. I think it just became available in the states because I tried to get it around christmas and they said it was only available in Europe at the point. The FM reception is supposed to be better too because it transmits the signal from the dock connector instead of the headphone jack. I dont actually know anyone who has this but I think I am going to buy it since my itrip seems to get a crappy reception half the time

Thanks guys ! I had been to the iPodlounge but wanted first hand info from "normal" people not "pathological reviewers". The RoadTrip is worth checking out. I've not come across it before.

I know what you mean about iPodlounge, but I've found some really helpful stuff there, including reviews.

Nothing against the iTrip, but depending on your car stereo you may be able to just use a CD in jack (on some cassette systems) to directly connect your iPod. It's a bit more reliable.

Yep! I wouldn't shell out the bucks for an iTrip (or similar accesory), but that's just me - would rather put it into a back-up battery pack. (I know, nerdy but true all the same!)

The only accessory I have (aside from the Apple case) is the Remote.

very handy on the train, bus or walking or if you're like me who tend to skip certain tracks or insanely repeat a single track off an album.

if I were to add another accessory....I'd look (or trial) for different brands of noise cancelling headphones.
