Has anyone found any notable jazz blogs?

I think sgraham might be Steven Graham, the editor of the UKs JazzWise magazine, responsible for a Blog I've come across here (http://www.jazzwise.blogspot.com/) . :)

Correct. I set up the Jazzwise blog (www.jazzwise.blogspot.com) a couple of weeks ago and since then it's been a good way to break news items and voice general opinions and cover current topics. If anyone wants to take part e-mail me on stephen@jazzwise.com and I'll send an invite by e-mail.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I've got a music blog, Hemispherical (http://hemispherical.blogspot.com), which has some jazz coverage now and will have more. (Not that it falls under the "noteable" heading!)

Some Latin American jazz mags have blogs -- in those cases, they really are jazz blogs -- with breaking news, gig info. (including last-minute changes, etc.). Makes me wonder why none of the N. American mags have decided to add this feature to their web sites...

I have, and I've enjoyed Bret's posts very much -- though I'm not sure I'd call it a "jazz blog" per se.

Give it some time to develop. He's only made a handful of posts.

At Greghesterjazz.com we're trying to spotlight the local jazz scene with articles about musicians, venues and general goings-on, but news of national interest is also welcome. We also review jazz albums (some of the more obscure artists who may not be familiar to most folks) and again, we welcome comment or additional content or ideas. We have some music sampling and lots of photos.

Check us out: www.greghesterjazz.com

i pulled the plug on bret primack's blog and converted it into a column. see...

http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article_center.php?in_type=119

i wasn't happy with the word press software (it's free for a reason) and it made more sense to use the aaj publishing system to post his articles.

Very grateful for this thread. ALready familiar with hemipsheric (I think notable is an apt description) and I'm in the process of checking outthe others.

I humbly offer my own fledgling effort - jazzofonik.blogspot.com for consideration. Jazz Times editor Chris Porter also runs a cool site (The suburbs are kiling us ) at christopherporter.com that covers music from diverse sources in addition to other views

that said, most of the entries here are on blogger. Any other blog hosts with good jazz sites?

I've been jazzblogging with GreyMatter since September 2002. I've incorporated it into my site TomorrowJazz.com (http://www.tomorrowjazz.com). I try to focus on modern jazz (remixed jazz, fusion, jazztronica, nu jazz, etc.). Please give it a look. I may not be able to update it for a couple of days as I read through these other blogs, especially JazzWriter, jazz unDone, and JazzPortraits!

I used to put a lot of jazz stuff on my blog, but I've sort of stopped. An old e-mail buddy of mine had a great blog focused on trad. jazz (mostly) at www.xanga.com/benni , but she hasn't written anything since December of 2003!

I recently found this forum and it's great!

I've been enjoying working on my own jazz blog. it's called "Jazz Authority". I play sax, but the articles are not ony sax related but include all general music topics. Here's the intro I used at the site... let me know if you find my blog usefull!

Jazz Authority is a site created for the purpose of learning about basic and advanced music theory, as well as discussing music in general. You can ask questions, reply to posts, and freely express your thoughts about music related subjects. Jazz improvisation, saxophone technique, music theory, and my random rants regarding the music industry are topics that will be covered. If you want to see a post on a specific subject, let me know. I promise that I have information and insight that you can use to your benefit. R-e-l-a-X, and talk about being a musician. Exchange ideas about music theory, improv techniques, and thoughts about making GOOD MUSIC. eNjOy!!!

More shameless self promotion here!

My blog has streaming-Jazz videos, advanced Jazz harmony lessons, player features, links to transcriptions and lessons, plus much more. There's a ton of useful material for the player on there.

Jazzenzo is a fresh dutch jazz e-zine. With regular news, concertreviews, interviews, tips, video- en audiofiles. This makes the site also interesting for people that don't understand Dutch.

www.jazzenzo.nl

We hope to do the interviews in english/dutch soon. At the moment there is just one in e/d, with Jordi Pujol: the man behind the Fresh Sound New Talent-label.

i have a student who's starting sax at 39, and i think he can be better than me; he's a natural musician. comes from a family of musicians, but he went to tufts univ and graduated and worked all over the world, but now he wants to play sax.

never too late. bird's productive life was only 17 years, and most of us have 17 years left; so let's do it.

here's a jazzblog of little consequence but a few excellent photos of musicians you prolly never heard about but great jazzers all. The text is in Danish - but a warped Danish, the cat that runs the blog is mad (in the good sense). Is mainly centered around some major Danish jazz stars that are nuts about racing bike, like American expatriate Bob Rockwell, myself and a few more.

For those of you interested in Latin Jazz, come by and check out The Latin Jazz Corner (http://www.chipboaz.com/blog) blog.

Fans of Latin Jazz can find explanations about the inner workings of the style, history, and listening recommendations; all written in a language that’s easy to understand.
