I got a problem with Windows Media Player. Everytime I try to stream something, the program immediately freezes. I've had this problem for a long time, does anyone know what's wrong?

One possibility is that if you have another type of media player on your system one is blocking the other. A similar unwanted contest a few years ago just about wrecked my current machine. Problem was resolved but machine has been dumb ever since

WMP can be finicky to disfunctional on macs, but i've never found out why. not a lack of horsepower in my case. nothing obvious like the possibility above, either.

A Train, I'm wondering if your problems occurred after an installation of the latest version of Window Media Player? I found that some odd things had happened after I installed it -- although I made sure all the file associations (etc.) were what I wanted (and that part of the install went well), the program seemed to take over *other*, unrelated things.
It caused my speaker volume to be set on "mute" and other quirky things that tood quite a while to locate and fix. nothing major, just a bunch of minor nuisances.
I fully believe what Tenorman says above regarding conflicting medial players, etc. -- I was running Win 98 until early Sept. 2003, and found that newer versions of Real, Quicktime and WMP caused major problems, since they weren't configured for my OS. The only solution was to unistall and revert to older versions of all 3 -- until I got XP, that is.

I tried to listen to the radio broadcast (I put on Get the Word Out) last night of an hour with Frank Rosolino. I could get the site up but I couldn't open any links, it kept saying what was being opened but they never got there, one thing was talking about applets on the bottom of the page, but nothing at all would come in. I wonder if any of you could get it to come in. I need to go back to the site and see if it will pull up today.
I tried to get the join the membership to come up, nothing, I tried all of the link tabs, nothing. I went to open a new link and nothing. That was even worse.
I used to listen to the radio on my computer and since installing the new security system (I have dial up AOL) the radio shuts off and on, which it didn't do before, some emails with sound used to shut off and on at times, but not AOL radio, not consistantly that is.
