The Library

I dont know where you live or how good your library is but you dont have enough time to fully understand jazz.

Speaking of time, you can get books in the library and form ideas out of them but it takes time to listen and understand music.

You'll have to start from Gershwin to Big Band to Bop then stretch out to Avant Garde all the way to Contemporary....meaning you cover all styles and notable personalities.

The second music source would be a Jazz Station.

If your music source is an individual....like a serious jazz fan, make sure he/she has a vast collection. Individuals are driven with personal choices so pick your sourcse carefully.
