Talking John Zorn Wins McArthur Foundation Grant; Stephen Colbert Comments

Folks, John Zorn has recently won the McArthur Foundation's grant ($500,000) and if you aren't fans of Stephen Colbert and the Colbert Report, then this clip might just turn you around. Go to this link: http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/t...nt/index.jhtml and click on the left-hand video, "Who's Not Honoring Me Now."

I need say no more except: Enjoy (I know my wife and I just about wet the couch).

    John

This was hilarious. I lost it when Colbert put on the top hat and was doing a jig to Zorn's skronk.

When he showed his own thing with upright bassist I laughed so hard. Was that really Karem (who is actualy a Monk expert)?

he's an extremely experimental altoist who combines jazz with japanese porn soundtracks and wierd noise.

I'll take a look and see.

Zorn is a pretty evil sounding name. Dr. Zorn from the Phantom Zone.

the Kareem skit was done last year or over the summer or something. It was priceless on it's own... now in context.

Colbert and Jon Stewart are 2 out of the 3 things I miss television for... and the 3rd reason doesn't start with new episodes until January

Hmm. Basically funny, if i were not so aware of Zorn deserving that price for going on the ways of Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra, Pharaoh Sanders, John Coltrane and the likes. I just like to be aware of what I laugh about, but hell, I laughed, so thats just about OK

Yeah a real riot. I'd like to see Colbert's take on Joyce, Woolf, Beckett, Schoenberg, Webern, Kandinsky, Rothko, and Partch too!
