Hello Forum ...
I am wondering if anyone could give me some leads on Frank Strozier? In my 10+ years of jazz fandom, I have yet to get to Strozier and I was wondering if anybody could give me any info on him (bio, essential recordings, etc).
Here's a short bio.
Here's a discography.
I've got "Long Night" and "Fantastic Frank Strozier-Plus" and find both of them very enjoyable.
Thanks Marcello and mikelz777, for the links. I will have to check them out, much appreciated.
Intrigued to see a thread about Frank Strozier. At work I have a calender with photo's of various jazz musicians. Strozier is the musician for February and having started the new month, I was curious to see if there was anything by hind available of CD having only heard him on a compilation CD by Chet Baker. The Baker tracks are just about the best thing on the disc - normally I am not a fan of his playing and even less of his singing! Strozier sounds impressive but there appears to be nothing under his own name available of disc. Shame.
I recently downloaded The Fantastic Frank Strozier-Plus mainly because it has Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb on it along with Booker Little on trumpet. Some great blues playing by all. Highly recommended. I play it a lot.
