(Justin Time, '88, w/ Neil Swainson, Jerry Fuller). A very good, little known album from the late '80's, with Henderson stealing the show. I own a ton of Henderson, as a leader and sideman, but think the '80's might have been his artistic peak. All the chops of his younger years, combined with all the taste and restraint of his later years. It seems every album he appeared on back then, he made instantly better, like he could pick up a solid band, put it on his shoulders, and make it something special. Granted, Joe always sounded good, but the '80's stuff often blows me away. Too bad he didn't record more during that period, particularly as a leader.

I remember that album!I never did get a copy but remember some tracks from it on the radio back then.

Although let's face it --"Soulful Strut" is pretty much the definitve Young-Holt Unlimited. Nothing else on this CD surpsasses that tune.
