I think all this interest in the work of Julius Hemphill is encouraging. I meant to mention his work in World Saxophone Quartet in my first post and it somehow got lost. The albums Live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Revue are among the best of any Hemphill ever appeared on.
Hemphill didn't record prolifically, it's true. And it's nice to see his best known compositions being played today. But there is no substitute for the original. http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...iftxqy5ldfe~T2
