Band on a Can All-stars - "Brian Eno: Music for Airports: Live"

A collective of New York jazz musicians and composers dedicated to performing contemporary music, they take on the challenge of a live performance of Brian Eno's ambient classic "Music for Airports". Very fun and very cool album.

Ah yes indeed. Well no record but a recorded tape from ages ago I found today with a lot of discomixes from a radiostation, recorded in the 80's I think. Some music is from the 70's but the mix was broadcasted in the 80's. The station was called Decibel, it still exists.
Right now a mix called 'I love music'.

I hear the O'Jays with Lovetrain, The Jacksons with Shake your body, Rose Royce - is this love you're after, The Gibson Brothers - if you should go, Donna Summer - Hot Stuff and so on.

By avoiding topical humor, for the most part, and by creating a cast of memorable characters -- such as Wally Ballou, Mary McGoon, the McBeeBee Twins, Webley Webster, Charles the Poet -- Bob & Ray's humor is as funny today as it was 50+ years ago (perhaps even moreso).

Hans Joachim Roedelius & Tim Story - "Inlandish"
Classic ambient stuff. Very pretty first thing in the morning music.

Guided By Voices-Sandbox

If Bob Pollard released a box set of everything he`s put out as GBV and under his own name it would be larger than the Miles Davis Complete Columbia box.

After many many moons I got this

Yeap. I like metal too believe it or not, and I used to play in metal bands when I was younger.

There is a lot of crap metal just like any other genre, commercial poop, but also tons of quite imaginative and intense compositions as well. I don't like the lead singer of At The Gates' voice, however. Never did; the music is killin' though.

I understand. I always felt that way about Rage Against the Machine. That lead singer they had, what's his name, Zack something, he'd just grate on my soul with that whiny shriek of his, never sounded like he was protesting so much as throwing a temper tantrum. But man, that band could play. I got real good at tuning the vocals out and just hear the rest of the band.

Listening to now...

Disinterested - "Behind Us"
Kind of ambient shoe-gaze stuff. Bill Frisell makes a fantastic guest appearance.

A lot of people feel the same way about Opeth. Mikael's voice happens to work for me most of the time though.

Reviewed at AAJ when it came out. I'm a fan of both the original and BoaC.
