Tracy Chapman - Let it rain

Thanks, Page. Things are well, and 'will do! Fwiw, Billy Bragg is an Irish rocker, who emerged in the early '80's. His early stuff was dominated by protest songs, and was largely solo, w/ distorted electric guitar. As he developed, he added a band, mixed in a few love songs, and softened a bit around the edges, although I always thought his music retained a certain edge and authenticity. These two are a couple of personal favorites. Anyway, I hope you have a great weekend as well! Best,

I also have her debut Silver City which is excellent too.It`s a mystery why she has`nt taken off to stardom.Hopefully she`ll do a new record soon.

Bonnie's singing and playing are both in good form on this one - has Frisell on a few tracks as well. (The beautiful ballads Not Cause I Wanted to and Standing in the Doorway are worth the price of admission alone).

Have been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash today. There is just something special about his songs. Now I've just found this video where Johnny is covering a famous U2 song: One. I have always loved U2 and One is a favourite. See what you think of his rendition, if it ís him. I think these lyrics fit him well and I would certainly prefer this over Mary J Blidge..

I'm also digging on this...love the opener "Used to Rule the World" too - great groove. Certainly one of her best in recent years.

This is really extraordinary. Just consider the personnel, Paul Hillier conducting the Theatre of Voices, and Terry Riley singing. And then, of course, they're John Cage compositions.

So what's it like? Well it varies. "Litany for the Whale" is a 20+ minute piece for two singers (call and response) that sounds almost medieval, while the second track (a mere 6 minutes) is more in line with Stockhausen's Stimmung.

It's a ride this one, with lots of twists and turns. Excellent.
