We're just erudite, that's all. As jbc said, Dobie is the first name of the fictional character Gillis and also the singer Gray of "Drift Away" fame. Remember "Gimme the beat boys, and free my soul...?" Well, Woody Herman probably didn't cover it. Anyway if rules prohibit proper names we won't do it again, but right now it's a bit late to dig up an alternative.

Straycat didn't specify what kind of word, etc.. Only thing is if don't have some parameters the game can become gibberish, probably evolve into an entirely new "game."

Next responder can play off either "Dobie" or "Adobe," their choice?

Jazzbluescat - That was my concern. With an almost uncontrolled field the game would become loaded with obscure and senseless words. But I'll go along with whatever is generally prefered.
