Some very cool stuff happening here. I admit, I've become a bit hesitant to chime in too often here, in fear of appearing too much of a "rah-rah" sort, since I started this thread, and I don't want people to question whether I really do dig their stuff or if I'm just saying so.

Still, I really do dig seeing people's stuff here. I almost always feel like I get something out of it - some ideas, some inspiration, some insight into who people are and what they're thinking.

Blacryder - great to see your usual provocative poetry set to images. I enjoyed them the first time through, and will be revisiting them again, as I tend to do with such things. 'Glad you finally made your way to this thread.

Page - another beautiful, honest poem. I really do enjoy reading your stuff.

Jay - "Trombone" kicks ass

and Voidstarseven - out of nowhere - love your contributions as well. That "photoglitch" is truly mesmerizing and makes me want to try some things with painting that I've never attempted.

and no worries . . . that's what this thread is for. Seriously, I'm a total hack, and I know it . . . still, this isn't about being a professional, or even a visual artist. I started this thread hoping to simply create a spot for people to feel free to put things out there. I hope to see more of your stuff . . .

Anyway, thanks all!

Page – unfortunately, I haven’t been too active these past several weeks. The good news is, this is largely due to the fact that I’ve got a bit of a workshop/studio project in the works, which should be done in the next couple of weeks. When it’s finished, I’ll have a good new space to stretch out and work on projects. In the short run, though, it means most of my stuff is stowed away and I don’t have a good place to work.

I’m pretty excited about the new space, though. It’s basically converting the back part of my garage into a workshop. It’s a two car garage, but has some extra depth in the rear. We decided to drop a wall in there to create a separate room. We’ve added some lights and few outlets, a bunch of shelving, threw in a new window to the backyard, a wall-mounted heater, and are building a few sturdy worktables. There’s even a little cubby for my daughters who both like working on stuff, too (my oldest has some real potential, I think). It should be pretty cool. I’ll post a pic or two when it’s all said and done.

I did attend a resin-casting workshop a while back, conducted by a cool local artist who does different mixed-media stuff. Basically, we learned to build rubber molds and make castings from liquid plastic. The two pictures below were from that workshop. I think there’s some cool possibilities with that stuff, so in the next few weeks, I’m gonna start fooling around more with that and see what I can come up with.

That space sounds great 1/2 B! Sorry for the late reply. I'll bet the girls are really happy with it too. Great that you exploring your options with these workshops. If this is what you do just 'fooling around', I'm really looking forward to what is still to come. Keep us posted.

Here is a picture of a window mannequin which I manipulated off a B&W 5 x 4 Polaroid, using Photoshop.
I’d done some colour manipulations in the past, but I was surprised how this one turned out.

Thank you Page. I was practising, I thought I’d put some material around the mannequin to give it a look. Then lit it accordingly.

Here’s a before and after.
