You know, we're all very lucky that there is at least one of the classic Coltrane Quartet albums that wasn't recorded by Rudy Van Gelder. Man... I may be alone in this, but I really hate RVG recordings. Anyhow, Sun Ship is like the best recording of the Coltrane Quartet in my opinion. The 1997 box set version is pretty good, and so it the new vinyl reissue; although I think they are the same audio version. Still, both sound great.

Oh man, that Live at Smalls series is uber-spectacular. My favourite so far is "Steve Davis Live at Smalls". But, the "Bob Juice - Ralph Lalama" one is a close second!
