Braxton's discography is overwhelming and a large amount unavailable. I need advise on what is currently available. I have a very limited collection….For Alto,
Quartet Dortmund and Quartet Coventry along with Dave Holland's Conference of the Birds (one of my all time favorite albums). Seems everyone is waiting and waiting for Willisau and Santa Cruz. Any recommendations for what is currently out there?

I have the same problem with Lee Konitz and Steve Lacy (vast discography/patchy availability (at least on CD, not LP or CD-R)).

I highly recommend investing in the Mosaic set. Yes, it's expensive, but if you're a fan of the albums you've posted above you will be more than happy. The Mosaic set is probably the best 'you can't go wrong' recommendation i could give.

Aside from that, the Black Saint/Soul Note box is also really good value for money and stretches into his nineties work.

And aside from that, take your pick! Quintet (London) 2004 is a personal fave. Beyond Quantum is an excellent, more traditional sax/bass/drums free jazz blowing date if that's your thing.

When it comes to Braxton, i'm not the most discerning; my method of exploration has pretty much been going to Amazon and seeing what's available, gravitating towards albums that feature artists i'm familiar with (hence i have quite a few albums featuring Halvorson and Ho Bynum)... and i don't think i've ever been disappointed!

There's a number of good titles available on emusic. If you are not a member they usually have a signup offer with 25 free tracks or so, and no obligations if you want to check them out.

Earlier this year, a hitherto unknown Anthony Braxton bootleg tape found its way to the Tri-Centric Foundation. It contained part of Anthony's solo Carnegie concert from June 10th, 1972. We are currently working with the tape for a possible release on the New Braxton House label.

The Tri-Centric Foundation has issued a surprise holiday release: "Solo (Carnegie Hall)1972"

Recorded when Anthony was 27 years old, this bootleg which was discovered earlier this year is the only available audio of the event that we know of. This histori release will be offered free to our monthly members (until January 15th, 2013) and, to non-members, at a discount rate of $6.99 instead of $8.99 until the end of the year.

TCF can only offer this recording to you because of your generous support. As many of you know, TCF was revived in 2009 by a dedicated group of volunteers. We are proud to have accomplished much in three short years but we need your help to keep going. Here is an appeal from the Tri-Centric Foundation president Taylor Ho Bynum.
