If you ever go temporarily insane, don't shoot somebody, like a lot of people do. Instead, try to get some weeding done, because you'd really be surprised. -- Jack Handey

From a British TV Quiz Show.

Q: In Shakspeare's play Julius Caesar, which character says: "I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him"? Is it Cleopatra, Mark Antony or Brutus?

Contestant: Well, I'm not sure, but I think it might be Brutus.

Q: Was that just a wild stab?

Contestant: Yes.

Page -- I believe you left off the rest of the quote which goes, "but What a Wonderful World is a saccharine, insipid piece of drivel whose composers should be forced to listen to it non-stop in hell for all eternity!"

I'm sorry when the quote did upset you in any way, Duane. Regardless who would have said it and whether they have lived by it or not, it is something I have been believing and trying to achieve as long as I have been singing. So it could have been my own.

Not something he actually said today, but I ran into it again just now. From a vocalist and friend who I greatly admire:

'The only distinction for me as a singer from other musicians is I put clothes on my instrument.'

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville

We DEFY augury. ...

If it be now, ’tis not to come.
If it be not to come, t'will be now.

If it be not now, yet t'will come:
The READINESS is all.

Since no man
Of aught he leaves, knows
What is’t to leave betimes?

Let be.

There is not less wit, not less invention, in applying rightly a thought one finds in a book, than in being the first author of that book.
