Fairly New to Jazz

Hello,I'm fairly new to Jazz (Iv'e been listening about a year but I've never really explored the genre). I have a few albums, (listed below) but I want to delve deeper. So what would you fine people recommend I go for next?

Colin, Welcome to the board. I don't know if you have explored another thread under this same heading: "Playlists for Newcomers". I put together a set of 6 playlists that introduce people to the last 50 years of jazz. Here's the link:

I actually saw your newcomers playlist a few moments after I put up the original post and started going through it and really liked it. I'm a guitar player so I guess it's inevitable I would be drawn to the jazz guitarist albums, but I was unaware there was a jazz guitar playlist, which I will now check out. As far as you not hearing from me I plan to come on here often in search for advice and new music, I've already got the page in my bookmarks.

When I want to hear jazz guitar I usually go to Jim Hall or Joe Pass. Joe Pass really bridges that gap for a guitar player between rock and jazz. When I was younger I found myself listening to guitarist because I could play the guitar. It was only when I got out of that mentality that I really let myself hear jazz. I can't play jazz on any instrument, but that doesn't at all interfere with my enjoyment of the music.

There are so many out there.

Anything by Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus or Art Tatum is great.
