Is there any music that people think jazz didn't influence?

Hello everyone...

I am writing a paper for school about jazz and its influence on modern music. I need to write two rebuttal paragraphs, or paragraphs disproving what someone thinks. So I need to find a source where someone says "Jazz did not influence..." or something similar. I realize it'll be difficult because there's not a lot that jazz didn't influence. But, if there is any book or database (can't be Internet) source that's out there that I could use to write these two paragraphs, please let me know!! Thanks!

Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina was not influenced by jazz.

Your query may have to be limited to contemporary music or music of the last hundred years.

Good luck.

Exactly. If you're talking about modern music there's a lot of influence. But jazz had nothing to do with Medieval or Renaissance music.

Here's what people think about jazz: absolutely nothing.

Is there any grape-flavored drink that people think didn't affect the outcome of WWI?

Rereading your post I see you did mention modern music and my silly comment makes even less sense.
You are going to have a hard time, I think. I'd guess even bluegrass has been influenced by jazz but that is worth checking.

Googling (?) on "non jazz influence" only finds the opposite :-)

I think that you could make a solid argument that jazz definitely influenced bluegrass. For example, listen to "Heavy Traffic Ahead" by Bill Monroe & the Bluegrass Boys.

Spirit of Radio, I think you're going to have a hard time finding source material for evidence that jazz DIDN'T influence other musics. Mostly because it DID. And secondly because it's not something people write about. A writer is more typically going to make connections, rather than saying "these two things have no relationship"!

Jazz definitely influenced Bluegrass from the very beginning, at least according to the book Bluegrass Breakdown. I don't know about some of the Old Time music before that though.

Absolutely, you can definitely hear the jazz influence in some Bluegrass music.
