Clifford Brown: Live at the Cotton Club

Does anyone have this recording?

Is the sound quality decent? Has this been released in other formats?

I love this band, and would gladly snap up the CD, but I can't be sure that I don't already own the recordings in some other release. According to one of the customer reviews, the recording came from Clifford's widow and the company was merely guessing that it was from a Cotton Club date.

To make a long story short, wait for a better release of all ( there is much more) of this material in the near future.
Some of this was released as "Pure Genius" in the 80's on Electra Musician:

Elektra/Musician E1 60026
I'll Remember April
What's New
Daahoud
Lover Man (Oh, Where Can You Be)
52nd Street Theme

The provence of the original tapes is undisputed, but this Lonehill release is at least a 2nd generation (poor sound), and as you may know, they don't pay nobody nothing.

So wait and be rewarded with more music, better sound and wonderful packaging.

That is all well and good but do you actually know of a future, better issue of these tracks, otherwise as far as I'm concerned I would rather have them than do without.
Also Lonehill do tend to reissue lots of material that otherwise might not become available to those who want or feel the need for it.
I have no problem with them

Again, the short answer is yes, but I can't tell you anything more publicly.
There will be a better release of all the music on these tapes in the near future with much better sound and packaging. Also, everyone will be paid for the release and for their copyrights.
If you care, and you should, Lonehill not only did not come across these tapes legitimately ( they are copies of copies. I believe Blue Note has the first generation copy), but Lonehill won't pay the Estate anything in the way of royalties or other compensation. European copyrights are of a shorter time span than the US, but that's just half of it.
The original tapes, which were made by Clifford and were in the car that was in the accident that killed him, are in the possession on the Estate. The Electra Musician release was generated by a copy of those tapes, not directly from the source material. That tape was lent out by Mrs. Brown to a individual, who made a copy.

OK, I'm convinced: I'll wait and look forward to better releases of this music in the future.

Can you disclose which record company will be releasing this music?

No, sorry. The deal isn't complete as of yet. but it's being worked on as of a couple of days ago.

There is the matter of a additional tape from the same time period (only heard by a few and rarely played), from another source, that is being perused to make a really complete and satisfying package.
