When I saw Ira Sullivan at a club, he told the audience that they shouldn't clap after every solo, but only if a solo particularly moved them. He pointed out that the applause at the end of a solo could drown out the next soloist's best playing of the night.

When I was a young man, my drinking buddies and I used to refer to vomit as "chunk of edge".

Today, at the polls, I felt like being obstinate, so I wrote in Ron Paul for President.

Is that a good or a bad thing? Sometimes I wish I could still talk to my mother or father and ask their opinion on something that is on my mind. Unfortunately I can't since they both have passed away. Or are these people you didn't know personally?

We're having typical Carolina weather, up and down. Expecting another high of 70 degrees today, expected to cool off Thursday, then back up for next weekend. Great for riding the scooter, and catching pneumonia.

I listened to 'Agharta' just now, all the way through. It's amazing. It's uncanny; how did Miles Davis get the bands he'd put together to talk like Miles Davis? 'Agharta' is one of his greatest recordings, done live in 1975 and yet it sounds like it was recorded last week. This guy, Miles Davis, he was a visionary.

There is a radio station the guys at work play here which features oldies and I couldn't help but be amused with the lyrics of this tune I'm sure most of you here must have heard. It goes like this.
Rock me gently Rock me slowly Take it easy Don't you know that I have never been loved like this before A man sang that or was the lead vocal on that record. For some reason every time I hear it I laugh and laugh pretty heartily I might add.
