My Randy Weston day continues with:

Randy Weston & His African Rhythms Trio - Zep Tepi

Of the twenty or so Weston recordings I own, this is probably my favorite.

I envy your Weston collection. The only album of his that I have is this one playing now. "Zep Tepi" was on my wish list a few months back but...well...I don't know what happened. As is often the case, if I don't strike while the iron is hot, I just friggin' forget.

A great DVD/CD set by French (Gascon) anarchic genius and multi-talent Bernard Lubat:

I know how that goes. There's only so much time & money -- and SO MANY interesting recordings.

Chutai, what do you think of this Perdomo CD?

I have his other release from this year, Universal Mind. It's excellent.

I really liked it, particularly the Latin groove more or less throughout. A stellar performance by all musicians - which sizzles and simmers, and of course Perdomo is a superb pianist with an exquisite touch,e.g on the delightful track "Comedia". I'll be listening to more of his output , beginning with your recommendation. But for now The 'Infancia' Project easily makes it onto my ten best of 2012 list...

...as does
