Who was the youngest Jazz musician who died?

I assume that it would be Scott LaFaro, as he died at age 22... Which Jazz musician died at the youngest age?

Booker Little died at 23. Not the youngest, but a terrible loss.

Not the youngest (he died at 26), but perhaps the most important jazz musician who died early was Clifford Brown by most accounts. Dizzy Gillespie has gone on record as stating that if Brown hadn't passed, nobody would have even known who he (Dizzy) was!

Dizzy did say that and it's funny how things like that work out sometimes.

Keyboardist Austin Peralta died last month at 22. Had recorded with some heavyweights at 16. A huge talent.

Wow. I've never heard of him. And that must be a prize-winner for most terrible/strange way to go.

I would say terrible/ironic.

He was a drummer who looked down an elevator shaft to see if his drums were coming. The elevator hit him from above. His timing could not have been worse.
